Also known as WorTri, World Trigger is a Japanese manga by Daiksuke Ashihara. It was first serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2013 to 2018.
Eventually, it was transferred to Jump Square towards the end of 2018. As of December 2021, its chapters can be collected into 24 tankobon volumes.
Toei Animation saw the potential of the manga and decided to adapt it into an anime. The first season ran from 2014 to 2016 which was followed by the second season in 2021. The third season made its premiere in October 2021 and ended in January 2022.
Fans are now wondering if there will be a season 4 of World Trigger, and what they can expect after season 3.
Will There Be a Season 4 of World Trigger?
As of this writing, Toei Animation has not confirmed or denied if a season 4 will be possible for the series. Fans are still hopeful as the manga has not ended, and season 3 has been covered until volume 22. There are a total of 24 volumes out for now which gives the studio content to adapt.
In addition, season 3, just like the two earlier seasons, received a great response from the community. The anime got 10th place at the Tokyo Anime Award Festival’s top 100 TV anime of 2016. It also got 158th place during the NHK’s tip 100 anime voting out of 400 titles.
In the event that the series does get a season 4, it will cover the B-Rank Wars story arc. The upcoming season can also adapt the Expedition Selection Exam story arc to complete all the published volumes. MyAnimeList’s official website rated the third season with 8.22/10, making it the best season of the series.
There are also fans who were worried about the story’s progression in the future as he suffers from poor health. The manga went on hiatus a couple of times last year. For now, fans will have to wait for official announcements to know the future plans for World Trigger.
