Stranger Things Season 5

Any hardcore Stranger Things fan would prefer watching the entire thing unfold on the big screens, but the question is, will the finale premiere in theaters?

The short answer is yes! This article details where and when the Stranger Things finale will be shown.

Which Theaters Will the Stranger Things Finale Premiere In?

Stranger Things season 5 divided its release dates into three parts: Volume 1 released on November 26, Volume 2 will debut on Christmas Day, while the final episode is scheduled for December 31, just in time for the new year. If you're looking to spend your New Year's Eve with the final showdown, you'll likely be able to head to theaters for a special fan screening.

The series finale will take place in more than 500 theaters in the US and Canada, starting on December 31 at 5 PM PT/8 PM ET, the same time the episode will be making its global premiere on Netflix and will run through January 1, 2026.

Fans looking to reserve their seats in the Upside Down can check www.ST5Finale.com for the full list of participating cities and theater locations. Exhibitors will be selling a concession voucher for fans to reserve seats via an RSVP list, meaning Netflix won't earn revenue through fan screenings.

The official run time for The Finale was revealed to be two hours and five minutes, which is plenty of time for Will Byers, Eleven, Kali, Mike, and the others to find a way to defeat and vanquish Vecna from Hawkins once and for all.

For the uninformed, Netflix, along with creators Matt and Ross Duffer, previously announced that Stranger Things: The Finale would be coming to theaters, in addition to being available to stream.

"We're beyond excited that fans will have the chance to experience the final episode of Stranger Things in theaters — it's something we've dreamed about for years, and we're so grateful to Ted [Sarandos], Bela [Bajaria] and everyone at Netflix for making it happen," the Duffer Brothers said in a statement.

They added, "Getting to see it on the big screen, with incredible sound, picture, and a room full of fans, feels like the perfect — dare we say b****in' — way to celebrate the end of this adventure."

Initially, Stranger Things was only going to be split into two volumes. However, the Duffer Brothers thought to pitch releasing the finale in theaters, "What's fun about seeing something in the theater, we think, is that everyone is experiencing it for the first time together. What we liked about this particular release pattern is that it allows that opportunity for a group of fans to sit and watch this unfold together."
