- Quick Answer: Season 4 of The Night Agent has not officially been renewed yet, but development has begun, and Netflix is expected to decide after evaluating Season 3’s streaming performance.
The Night Agent Season 3 has finally arrived, with Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) back in action as he faces deadly assassins and powerful political figures. But while fans are already hoping for an early Season 4 renewal, no announcement has been made yet.
Season 3 was renewed about three and a half months before Season 2 premiered. Now, about a week after the latest season’s release, viewers are already asking whether Peter will return for another mission.
Will There Be The Night Agent Season 4?

Netflix has yet to renew The Night Agent for a fourth season, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the end of fan-favorite agent Peter Sutherland’s story, as a potential new installment is reportedly already in development.
“Season 4 is not officially picked up yet, but earlier in calendar year 2025, they quietly opened a writers’ room,” creator Shawn Ryan told Deadline. “We’ve been working on the storyline for a while. We have some scripts and are currently breaking stories. As you know from the tax credit, there’s a deadline by which filming needs to begin, so there’s a timeline we’re working within.”
According to Netflix sources, executives are waiting to see how Season 3 performs before officially ordering Season 4.
The decision comes after series producer Sony Pictures Television received a $31.6 million tax credit to move production from New York, where Seasons 2 and 3 were filmed, to Los Angeles. The incentive reportedly includes a six-month window to begin production.
The early renewal for Season 3 was largely driven by the breakout success of Season 1. However, Season 2 drew a little over half the viewership of the first season, despite a strong initial launch.
“To Netflix’s credit, they want to make sure the creative side is fully buttoned up before committing that amount of money,” Ryan added. “We’re currently in the story-breaking and script-writing phase, and my guess is that sometime in the next few weeks to a month, they’ll decide whether to officially greenlight Season 4. If that happens, we’ll be ready with scripts so there won’t be much time between Season 3 and Season 4.”
What Would The Night Agent Season 4 Be About?

While The Night Agent Season 4 has no official plot details yet, it is highly likely that Peter Sutherland will continue his role within the high-stakes world of intelligence and national security.
After the escalating political threats and global conspiracies introduced in Season 3, Peter may find himself in even more dangerous situations, possibly involving international missions. This time, the conflict may no longer be confined to Washington, DC.
It’s also possible that the new season will explore the consequences of the decisions Peter has made as a Night Agent, especially now that trusting anyone within the government has become increasingly difficult.
Although a new season has not yet been confirmed, one thing is certain: if it receives the green light, Season 4 will continue the series’ signature mix of fast-paced action, political intrigue, and emotionally driven storytelling.
