Marshals Season 2 may have just begun, but lead star Luke Grimes, who plays Special Deputy US Marshal Kayce Dutton from the original series Yellowstone, has already addressed the show's chances of getting a third season.

Thanks to the first season's strong ratings and commercial success, it was quickly renewed for a second season. The episode count also expanded from 13 to 20, with episodes set to be released in two halves.

So far, Marshals Season 2 has released three episodes, with the premiere drawing 8.2 million viewers on CBS. It became the week's number-one scripted show and the second most-watched program overall on television.

Although it will take some time for the second season to conclude, Luke Grimes has addressed the possibility of the show being renewed for a third season.

“We haven't heard anything yet, but this past season, the pickup was so fast, so I don't know what to expect,” he told ScreenRant.

Indeed, after the first season premiered on March 1, 2026, the show was renewed for a second season on March 12, a few days after its debut garnered more than 20 million viewers across multiple platforms.

“I think one of them aired, and they're like, ‘We're doing it again!’” he continued. “[Laughs] I feel like we just did press for season 1. So yeah, we'll see. But I'm sure you guys will all find out when we find out.”

The second-season renewal came after only two episodes of the first season had aired. With three episodes of Season 2 now available and no announcement about a third season yet, fans are wondering whether the show could receive another early renewal.

But given the series' continued viewership success, Marshals Season 3 remains a possibility, although CBS has yet to confirm its future.

Marshals Season 2 continues to expand the Taylor Sheridan universe, following Kayce Dutton as he joins an elite team of US Marshals in Montana.

The second season picks up where the previous season left off, with Kayce still reeling from Monica's (Kelsey Asbille) death, dealing with his son's kidnapping, the exposure of Tom Weaver's (Chris Mulkey) criminal network, and the fallout involving Cal (Logan Marshall-Green) and Belle (Arielle Kebbel).

Kayce and Dolly (Ellyn Jameson) take on crime lords in the second season, with the wider conflict centering on the growing pressure from East Camp.

Marshals Season 2 premiered on October 4 on CBS and is available to stream on Paramount+. New episodes air weekly on Sundays at 8 pm ET/PT.
