The Glory is currently topping the charts on Netflix's non-English shows category. And with its cliffhanger ending, many can't help but get excited for the show's return in March 2023.
Now that Moon Dong Eun (played by Song Hye Kyo)'s revenge plot against her high school bullies have been revealed, people are starting to show their alliances. Of course, Dong Eun had to blackmail some of the characters into siding with her and not help Park Yeon Jin (played by Lim Ji Yeon).
So far, she has gotten Kang Hyeon Nam (played by Yeom Hye Ran) and Ju Yeo Jeong (played by Lee Do Hyun) to pledge their allegiance with her. She was also able to blackmail some of her former bullies to help her, such as Son Myeong-O (played by Kim Gun Woo) and Choi Hye Jeong (played by Cha Joo Young). Dong Eun also advised Jeon Jae Joon (played by Park Sung Hoon) to take her side in exchange of helping him get Yeon Jin's daughter, who turns out to be his child after all.
The ending, however, reveals that Dong Eun meets up with Yeon Jin's husband, Ha Do Young (played by Jung Sung Il). And with the undeniable chemistry between the two characters, many can't help if Do Young will turn a blind eye and stay devoted to his wife or will help Dong Eun when the show returns.
But as fans pointed out, there is a theory hinted by the official posters of the show. Here's what we know:
What Do The Glory Posters Suggest?
As spotted by some fans, the official character posters of the show do more than just introduce the actors. Some fans believe that the flower, its color, and the vines wrapping around the neck of the character tells a lot about his/her fate.
As shared on Cafe Daum, the netizen wrote:
If you look at The Glory poster, you can see that the color of the morning glory on Dongeun's side is different from that on Yeonjin's side. Dongeun's side is divided into white morning glory and Yeonjin's side is yellow. 'Morning Glory' and the yellow morning glory is 'Angel's Morning Glory'.
It is said that angel's morning glory originally grows by looking at the ground, and devil's morning glory originally grows by looking at the sky. In other words, the white devil's trumpet does not grow by looking at the ground.
Then, coming back to the poster, Ha Do-young's flower has her head down, so it seems that it cannot be the devil's morning glory like Dong-eun.
What does it mean? It seems that you can try to figure out two things.
1. Ha Do-young, who was originally on Yeon-jin's side (angel's morning glory), is colored by Dong- eun
2. Dong-eun is the only one who will fall 'to the ground'. The gaze is not towards the sky, but towards the floor.
Among the white morning glory flowers, except for Dong-eun, who is looking straight ahead, all are looking down, and all the yellow morning glory flowers are looking at the sky. It seems that the intention was to look down at the perpetrators who fall, so Ha Do-young, who looks down, wonders if he even falls.
The author also noticed the vines that were growing and covering the necks of the perpetrators.
Among the owners of Devil's Morning Glory, no one has a vine wrapped around their neck, but only one person, Dong-eun, has a vine creeping up on her neck.
It's not completely covered up like the perpetrators above, but I wonder if Dong-eun is drying herself up in the process of achieving revenge, so she said that line herself...
This fan theory makes a lot of sense especially since there is one episode where the meaning of the two flowers were shared by Dong Eun's landlord. If Do Young decides to help Dong Eun, part two would really be interesting as we try to see what happens to Yeon Jin.
But more importantly, what will happen to Yeo Jeong who is head over heels for Dong Eun?
We'll know once The Glory returns for a second part.
