There is little doubt that people have mixed reactions to the new delay in the Wonder Woman 1984 release. Some are rolling their eyes over the fact that the highly anticipated film has been pushed back yet again while others are optimistic that the move will allow them to safely watch the movie in theaters. But will this mean another major Warner Bros. flick will be affected as well? Fans are now concerned that Dune could be delayed to avoid clashing with the comic book movie.
It was previously reported that Wonder Woman 1984 would be moved to a December release date instead of the scheduled October premiere. The delay is said to allow Tenet to continue screening in theaters without any competition but it is also believed to be a move that would make the most of a bigger box office haul during the holidays.
So where does this leave Dune, which is expected to hit theaters a week before the new Wonder Woman 1984 release date? According to IndieWire, Warner Bros. has not made any changes to the sci-fi flick's premiere date, at least for now. However, there is a possibility that the studio is aiming to dominate the holiday box office with two tentpole releases. Hopefully, it's a move that works in Warner Bros.' favor.
For now, Dune is still set to premiere on December 18 while Wonder Woman 1984 is scheduled for release on December 25. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
