Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has shot down the possibility of Miles Morales making his live-action debut in the MCU anytime soon.

For years, fans have been clamoring for Miles Morales to finally appear in the MCU and team-up alongside Tom Holland's Peter Parker. However, so far, there have been no plans for them to bring in the fan-favorite character, and they are more focused on continuing the adventures of Peter Parker, which is still part of the deal between Sony and Marvel Studios.

Why is Miles Morales Not Appearing in the MCU Anytime Soon?

Speaking with reporters last Friday (via Variety), Feige confirmed that they have no plans to bring in Miles Morales in the MCU anytime soon, as they are not allowed to use him at the moment.

"That is nowhere. We’ve been told to stay away," he said.

As most fans already know, Sony currently holds the rights for Miles Morales and is still working on the Spider-Verse trilogy, which will be releasing its third installment in 2027.

While the quote may not have surprised a lot of fans who are aware of the complicated issues surrounding the Spider-Man rights, it is still unfortunate news for those who might be hoping that Miles Morales will make an appearance at some point in the MCU.

For now, Marvel Studios is focused on Holland's Peter Parker as their main Spider-Man in the MCU, and they are currently working on the fourth installment, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is set to begin production very soon and will be released in theaters next year.

Despite all of that, fans could still see a scenario where Sony will decide to lend the rights of Miles Morales to Marvel Studios at some point, but only time will tell whether it will happen.

What is the Future of Spider-Man in the MCU?

As mentioned, Marvel Studios and Sony are currently focused on Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Holland will return as the web-slinger while Destin Daniel Cretton serves as the director.

Feige confirmed to the reporters that the upcoming installment will be a street-level adventure for the hero and marks the "proper Spider-Man" era in the MCU.

"I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home, that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories him being a proper Spider-Man. Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with — for lack of better terms — street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events," he said.

The Marvel Studios president also confirmed that Jon Bernthal's Punisher will have a key role in the film, which was already confirmed by a report weeks ago.

"So when you do that, you say, okay, who are the other street-level characters that we’ve never seen him interact with? And of course, I love that The Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic. That great cover," he said.

"I don’t want to say too much, but Destin — I will say too much — Destin is doing an amazing job right now on that movie, which starts shooting very soon. And he’s got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie, which is super cool."
