The highly-anticipated anime adaptation of Sakamoto Days is set to finally arrive on Netflix, and it's already getting divisive reactions from fans.

The series based on the best-selling manga from Yuto Suzuki has been one of the most-awaited anime releases of winter 2025. However, it looks like the hype may have died down based on the early responses to its promos.

Why Fans Are Divided Over Netflix's Sakamoto Days?

The divisive reactions to the upcoming Netflix anime adaptation of Sakamoto Days stem from the trailers that have been released so far.

Some fans felt that the series may have been falling short of expectations already as they didn't like the animation style and voice acting based on the footage that they've shown.

There are also accusations that the negative comments on the trailers are being deleted. So far, the studio has not responded to the claims.

Here are some of the divisive reactions posts from Sakamato Days fans on X regarding the upcoming series:

While the responses are only based on trailers and other promotional campaigns, it's still not the type of buzz that Netflix may have wanted leading up to the premiere.

It would be interesting to see whether the reception will change once fans watch the series when it premieres.

What is Sakamoto Days About?

In case you're not familiar, Sakamoto Days tells the story of the ultimate assassin, Taro Sakamoto, feared by villains and admired by other hitmen. One day, he falls in love and out of shape, preoccupied with marriage, retirement, and fatherhood.

Despite that, he’s still armed with superhuman skill and strength, and during extreme situations, he loses his extra weight and gains twice the power he had before.

When his past catches up, Sakamoto must embrace his previous life again and work with his comrades to protect his family from the looming bands of assassins.

Part 1 of Sakamoto Days season 1 is slated to premiere on Netflix this January 11 with one new episode released weekly. Part 2 is set to debut in July later this year.
