Many fans were surprised to learn that RWBY is not on Crunchyroll anymore despite the series’ popularity and anime-like qualities.

The sudden absence of RWBY on the streaming platform worried fans about the future of the series and where they could watch it again online.

Why Is RWBY Not on Crunchyroll? Theories and Predictions

The future of Rooster Teeth's catalog content, including RWBY, has been unclear since the company closed its doors in March 2024.

While fans thought that Warner Bros. Discovery was in talks to sell the rights to Crunchyroll, the absence of RWBY from its library might suggest that it’s not happening at all.

Previously, RWBY: Volume 9 was released on the platform in February 2023 under a one-year exclusive release deal between Rooster Teeth and Crunchyroll.

Now that the one-year exclusive release deal is over and no one has yet to acquire the rights to RWBY, fans discovered that Crunchyroll pulled out the series in most regions.

Fans of RWBY were shocked by this unfortunate circumstance since it meant they would not be able to enjoy the series as they had in the past.

Before, RWBY episodes were not only available on Crunchyroll, but they were also accessible on YouTube and the official website of Rooster Teeth.

Meanwhile, other Crunchyroll subscribers reveal that some seasons of RWBY are still available in their region, but fans urge each other to enjoy watching them while they can because they will probably be removed in the next few days.

At this point, fans want to hear news about RWBY’s potential new home and updates about volume 10, but for now, nothing has been confirmed.

Would Crunchyroll Stream RWBY Again? Our Predictions

As of writing, Crunchyroll is yet to disclose whether RWBY will return to its platform soon. Despite being a major player in the anime streaming industry, Crunchyroll mostly offers Japanese anime.

Although RWBY is heavily inspired by anime, it is not a traditional Japanese anime.

This distinction might play a role in the company's decision to let go of RWBY and allow other streaming platforms to acquire the series' rights and market it differently.

In the future, the rights to RWBY could be acquired by another streaming service, such as Disney+, HIDIVE, Netflix, or Amazon Prime, so fans remain hopeful.

On the contrary, 15 new games are being added to Crunchyroll's Game Vault. Among them is the action-adventure game RWBY: Arrowfell, which is set to arrive in the summer or fall of this year.

It will feature a new canon story with the main characters of the original RWBY series.

Where Else Can I Watch RWBY?

RWBY is currently available on Fandango at Home, formerly known as Vudu. Fans may sign up on the website, but they have to digitally purchase the series to watch it.

It is also recommended to order physical copies of RWBY on DVD or Blu-ray disks from online retailers such as Amazon to continue supporting the series.

Meanwhile, RWBY appears to be confirming something soon in a recent X (formerly Twitter) post, most likely an announcement regarding its future home.

For now, there’s no legal place online where fans can watch RWBY repeatedly. Still, fans hold out hope for another media company to acquire the IP rights for RWBY soon.
