Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for the Chainsaw Man manga series, so proceed with caution.

Chainsaw Man Chapter 171 Marks Return of Pochita’s True Form

Chainsaw Man chapter 171 sees the epic return of Pochita’s true form after Denji snaps upon seeing a decapitated head that seemingly resembles Nayuta on the sushi conveyor belt.

While everyone is in shock, Barem continues eating his sushi as if he already expects the reaction of his audience, especially Denji.

All of a sudden, Denji grabs Barem’s neck and tears his head off. At the same time, Pochita takes control of Denji’s body in his true form, much to the delight of fans.

A new battle awaits Pochita, as he seemingly needs to defeat the second iteration of Special Division 5 and the public safety agents lurking outside the sushi restaurant.

Why Is Pochita the Hero of Hell So Strong? Powers and Abilities Explained

To this day, not much is known about Pochita’s background or how he obtained the unique powers and abilities that his fellow devils fear and/or adore in Hell.

Thanks to the very little information given by Makima and the other devils about Pochita, the devils fear him because of his unique ability to erase a devil’s existence and the concept they represent by eating them.

His abilities either get stronger or weaker depending on the perspective of the people and devils toward him. The more they fear Pochita, the stronger he gets, and vice versa.

This ability makes Pochita the target of primal fears, such as darkness and death. He eventually faces the Four Horsemen and the Weapon Devils, resulting in his near-death escape from Hell to Earth, where he encounters Denji.

With this, many speculate that Pochita could be something else, either the Death Devil or Extinction Devil or even a greater unknown devil yet to be revealed in the series, which could explain why he is so feared and adored.

Others think Pochita is either tied to cinema or Christianity due to his devotees and that his title “Hero of Hell” is a clue about his true identity.

Some fans also suggest that someone sneaked a VHS of the iconic Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie in Hell, or he could be the Almighty God himself, as the origins of his abilities remain a mystery.

Perhaps in the upcoming chapters, this mystery will be answered, so stay tuned for more information!
