Several Hollywood celebrities and directors have shown their support for Paul Dano on social media following a controversial remark from Quentin Tarantino in a podcast interview.

For two decades, Dano has been celebrated as one of the best actors of this generation due to his versatility of roles and exceptional talent on screen, whether it's in film or TV. He has also starred in some of the most acclaimed films of all time, such as There Will Be Blood. However, despite his celebrated reputation, one particular filmmaker remains unimpressed with his work. This has prompted a recent movement from celebrities in Hollywood.

In a recent interview on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast (via The Hollywood Reporter), Quentin Tarantino shared his hot take on Paul Dano as he discussed There Will Be Blood as one of his favorite films of the 21st century.

He noted that the film "would stand a better chance to be in number one or number two if it didn’t have a big giant flaw in it," and the flaw that he pointed to is Dano.

"Obviously, it’s supposed to be a two-hander, and it’s also so drastically obvious that it’s not a two-hander. He is weak sauce, man. He’s a weak sister," the filmmaker said. "Daniel Day-Lewis shows that he doesn’t need [a strong foil in the movie]. He doesn’t need anything. The movie would’ve had more — there would’ve been more stringiness to the beef. And again, it’s supposed to be a two-hander, and it’s not."

After Ellis argued that Day-Lewis' character was "so gargantuan" that it had overtaken Dano's presence, Tarantino asked back, "So you put him with the weakest male actor in SAG? The limpest d**k in the world?"

Unsurprisingly, several Hollywood celebrities on social media have come to Dano's defense, shown their support, and criticized Tarantino's remarks as they disagree with his hot take.

Celebrities such as Maya Rudolph and Toni Collette showed their support for Dano by posting a photo of the actor on their Instagram stories.

Ben Stiller, who worked with Dano in Escape from Dannemora, backed Dano by writing, "Paul Dano is f-ing brilliant."

The Batman director Matt Reeves also showed his support for Dano by simply posting, "Paul Dano is an incredible actor, and an incredible person."

What is Paul Dano's Reaction to Quentin Tarantino's Remarks About Him?

So far, Dano has not released a statement in response to Tarantino's controversial remarks regarding his work in There Will Be Blood.

The actor is known to be private and not react to controversies in the media, so we won't likely hear his thoughts about the issue until he gets asked in an interview someday.

Needless to say, Dano's massive support from his colleagues in the industry is already a signal of how beloved he is among his peers and reflects the majority opinion on his talent as one of this generation's gifted performers.
