Last January 27, Netflix released a new movie entitled You People. Even though it included some big names in the industry, like Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy, it didn't really catch the attention of many Netflix subscribers.

Days after its release, a scene from the film has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. As it turned out, Hill didn't actually lock lips with Lauren London in the wedding scene. The film, however, showed otherwise. This makes us wonder, why did Hill and London have to fake kiss in You People?

On an interview with podcast The Brilliant Idiots, Andrew Schulz revealed a juicy bit of information about You People. Schulz plays Avi in the film, who is the cousin of Ezra Cohen (played by Jonah Hill).

According to Schulz, the kiss that Ezra and Amira Mohammed (played by Lauren London) shared at the end of the movie wasn't real. As it turns out, the kiss was actually computer-generated.

Schulz lifted up his two hands a foot apart from each other to indicate the distance between the two actors as they were filming the supposed kissing scene. You can watch it here:

And true enough, the whole thing is hidden behind falling flower petals. But if you look close enough, you kinda see where the faces of the two actors don't really meet.

Perhaps a reason behind the fake kiss is that the two actors don't really share chemistry with each other. And this was very obvious from the beginning, even social media users were able to spot the lack of chemistry between the on-screen partners.

Here's a pretty good theory on why the two actors fake kissed on the film:

Nipsey Hustle (aka Ermias Asghedom) was an rapper who London dated until his murder in March 31, 2019. The two were rumored to be engaged after engagement photos were released. But as it turns out, the photos were shot for a GQ campaign.

And in an interview with Harper's Bazaar, London admitted she had hesitations accepting the role. She was worried whether the bond between her and Hill would feel genuine, despite being good actors themselves.

Do you agree that the two had a fake kiss? You can watch the full movie on Netflix since it's currently available to stream.
