Whoopi Goldberg Warns Against AI-Generated Weight Loss Ad Using Her Image: "Do Not Fall for It!"

Whoopi Goldberg criticized a weight loss ad that used her likeness without permission and cautioned people not to believe it if they come across it.

Before a scheduled commercial break during the February 5 episode of The View, Goldberg interrupted, saying, “No, no, we are not going yet. I’m going to do this.”

She then announced, “I’m giving everybody a heads-up. There is a phony weight loss ad floating around online, on Instagram, that has me [with an] AI mouth saying all kinds of stuff.”

The EGOT winner assured viewers they would know if it was truly her by saying, “Hey, it’s me, Whoopi.”

“Do not indulge in this, do not look at this. Just get rid of it, because I don’t know what it is. I had nothing to do with it, and I don’t want y’all thinking that this is coming from me,” she continued.

Goldberg, 69, also pointed out the uncertainty surrounding the ad’s creators. “That’s the problem with AI. You don’t know who made it, but I’m telling you, it’s a lot of BS. Do not fall for it.”

Whoopi Goldberg’s discovery of a fake ad using her image to promote a weight loss drug prompted her to mention the only medication she trusts.

“I told you what I did! I was upfront. I don’t have any reason to go sell some other stuff. I told you, I took my Mounjaro. I used Mounjaro, okay? That is what I did,” she said.

The Sister Act actress had already stated that Mounjaro is the only weight management drug she used during Oprah Winfrey’s March 2024 special, Shame, Blame, and the Weight Loss Revolution.

Mounjaro is similar to Ozempic, both are GLP-1 medications used to treat diabetes, though some celebrities take them for weight loss.

Goldberg said she only started focusing on her weight after reaching 300 pounds while filming the 2022 biographical drama Till. However, she hadn’t realized how much weight she had gained until she saw herself in the mirror. “I saw me and I thought, ‘Oh! That’s a lot of me!’”

During the special, she also pointed out how difficult it can be to talk about noticeable weight gain. “Everyone has something to say, but no one said, ‘How you doing?’ Because it involves so many other things. I think it is a matter of how we treat ourselves.”
