Robert Pattinson recently spilled the details on his rumored villainous role in Dune: Part Three after months of speculation on his casting.

Earlier this year, it was reported that The Batman star has been cast to play the role of Scytale, the main villain, in Dune: Part Three. However, at that time, neither the studio nor the people involved in the making of the film confirmed the actor's involvement. Nevertheless, fans have been excited about Pattinson joining the Dune universe and facing off with Timothee Chalamet.

In a recent interview with IndieWire, Pattinson was asked whether he is playing the villain role of Scytale in Dune: Part Three.

He confirmed that he is indeed playing the antagonist in the highly anticipated third installment of Denis Villeneuve's Dune trilogy, and he has been working on the project in the last few months.

The actor also reflected on his experience filming Dune: Part Three in a hot outdoor location and how he was able to relax more.

"It’s actually really nice. When I was doing Dune it was so hot in the desert that I just couldn’t question anything," he said. "And it was so relaxing, like my brain actually wasn’t operating, I did not have a single functioning brain cell. And I was just listening to Denis [Villeneuve]: Whatever you want!"

This is the first time that Pattinson commented on his casting in Dune: Part Three after months of secrecy surrounding his involvement in the project.

What to Expect in Dune: Part Three

Dune: Part Three is the third entry in Denis Villeneuve's Dune trilogy. It will be based on Frank Herbert's second novel in the Dune series, Dune Messiah.

It was previously titled Dune: Messiah (like the novel) before it was retitled to "Dune: Part Three." Some of the sequences will be shot with IMAX cameras, promising breathtaking visuals and more epic scope for the new installment.

Aside from Pattinson, the cast also includes Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, and Anya Taylor-Joy. They are expected to reprise their roles from the previous films. Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke have also been cast to play Paul and Chani's children.

The film is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026. Filming is still ongoing in Budapest and Abu Dhabi.
