After 11 years, Rebecca Loos continues to claim in a 60 Minutes Australia interview on Sunday, March 30, that she and David Beckham had an affair.
It seems the 47-year-old has no intention of backing down, standing by her claims and insisting she “never exaggerated” or “lied about a single thing,” despite the former footballer’s denials.
As she describes herself as “brave” for taking on “the strongest, most powerful couple in the media” today, learn more about the personal assistant who rocked the Beckham marriage.
From a Personal Assistant to an Assistant Celebrity
Born to a Dutch family on June 19, 1977, in Madrid, Spain, Rebecca used to be a public relations officer before she became David’s personal assistant in 2003.
It happened at the time the global icon made his high-profile move from Manchester United to Real Madrid.
With David’s global superstardom at its peak, Rebecca’s role placed her close to the athlete and his private affairs.
After she made a big exposé about her alleged romance with David in 2004, her employment was terminated a few months later.
She then briefly appeared as a hostess on the Dutch TV show Shownieuws.
She also appeared on the reality TV series The Farm, followed by Celebrity Love Island, The X Factor: Battle of the Stars, the Spanish version of Survivor, Sky TV’s Cirque de Celebrite, and the Dutch version of 71 Degrees North.
She, too, had a part in the Dutch movie Mijn Vader is een Detective (My Father is a Detective) and graced the covers of Playboy, FHM, Nuts, Zoo Weekly, and other men’s and women’s magazines.
Today, she works as a yoga teacher and massage therapist.
The Controversial Allegation
In 2004, Rebecca shook both the entertainment and sports worlds when she told UK newspaper News of the World that she and David had a four-month affair while he was already married to Victoria Beckham.
At the time, they shared two kids, Brooklyn and Romeo.
Rebecca revealed details of their alleged encounters, described intimate moments, and even claimed to have text messages as proof.
“I know he was in love with me,” she said in the explosive interview. “We couldn’t keep our hands off each other.”
David, on the other hand, denied the allegations, telling The Guardian that the “simple truth is that I am very happily married and have a wonderful wife with two very special kids.”
“There is nothing any third party can do to change this,” he continued.
Rebecca Loos Doubled Down on Her Claim
In her latest interview, Rebecca Loos doubled down on her claim that she had an affair with David Beckham, more than 20 years after first making the allegation.
“All I had on my side was the truth,” she said.
As David has repeatedly denied the accusations over the years, she recalled how “traumatic” it was to see “loads of horrible stories” about herself and Victoria but never about the man.
“I wanted to be brave and strong,” she added. “But some of it seeped through and got to me, and that has taken time to recover from.”
Where is Rebecca Loos Today?
In 2009, Rebecca relocated to Norway after becoming pregnant and getting married to her Norwegian doctor husband, Sven Christjar Skaiaa. The couple shares two kids.
She now works as a yoga teacher and massage therapist—far different from the glitz and glamour of the entertainment world.
Reflecting on her past, Loos has admitted to having regrets about how she handled the scandal.
“I'm a mother now and married, and knowing what I know now, I would definitely have gone about things quite differently,” she told Metro. “I was young and foolish and very reckless. I didn't think things through and acted on impulse a lot. I think I regret the impact on everybody. I think I could have gone about it in a kinder way.”
Though she “did not regret speaking out,” she admitted she regretted how she “went about it.”
