It was recently revealed that The Batman star Robert Pattinson had a secret role in the acclaimed film Marty Supreme. But who did he play?

The A24 sports dramedy film has been getting massive praise from critics and audiences in the last few weeks. Not only has it become a box office hit, but it's been receiving several awards and nominations across various award-giving bodies. Timothee Chalamet's performance has also been hailed and is now considered to be the Best Actor frontrunner at the Oscars.

Who Did Robert Pattinson Play in Marty Supreme?

Audiences who have seen Marty Supreme may have missed Pattinson's secret role, since he appeared through a voice performance and was uncredited.

In a recent conversation at London’s BFI Southbank (via Variety), director Josh Safdie revealed that The Batman star voiced the British umpire at the beginning of the film when Marty Mauser was facing off against Bela Kletzki in the British Open semifinals.

Pattinson was cast for the secret voice role since he had worked with Safdie before in the 2017 crime thriller Good Time.

"No one knows this, but that voice — the commentator, the umpire — is Pattinson. It’s like a little easter egg. Nobody knows about that. He came and watched some stuff and I was like, I don’t know any British people. So he’s the umpire," the filmmaker explained.

Last year, during a "Lie Detector Test" video for Vanity Fair, Pattinson addressed the possibility of working with the Safdie Brothers again when Jennifer Lawrence asked him whether he was open to another collaboration.

When the actor answered with a yes, the examiner called his response "deceptive." Pattinson laughed and quipped, "That’s crazy." Now, in hindsight, it looks like he was keeping that secret all along.
