Where to Watch Chernobyl Online in 2025 — HBO’s Miniseries Is Still Streaming

Chernobyl

Chernobyl

There have been several adaptations of the historical Chernobyl disaster, but none quite match HBO’s acclaimed TV adaptation of the same name.

Released in 2019, the miniseries received widespread praise for its ensemble cast’s performances, historical accuracy, tone, screenplay, cinematography, atmosphere, and musical score.

Fortunately, both longtime fans and new viewers can still enjoy watching Chernobyl. Here’s how.

Where to Watch Chernobyl Online

Dramatizing the story of the 1986 nuclear plant disaster in Ukraine, Chernobyl follows the people involved in the event and those who responded to it.

Unlike previous adaptations that focused on major storylines, the show highlights lesser-known accounts, including the efforts of first responders, volunteers, and miners who dug a critical tunnel beneath Reactor 4.

Led by Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgård, Emily Watson, and Paul Ritter, here’s where you can watch Chernobyl online:

  • Where to Watch Chernobyl in the US: Hulu and HBO Max; Apple TV and Amazon Prime for purchase or rental.
  • Where to Watch Chernobyl in the UK: Sky Atlantic and Now TV; Apple TV and Amazon Prime for purchase or rental.

However, due to geo-blocking that comes with streaming deals, Chernobyl may not be available to stream outside the US or UK. Fortunately, you can still access it with the help of a VPN.

VPNs allow users to connect to servers in the US or UK from anywhere, helping bypass regional restrictions and stream shows unavailable in their countries.

With the success of Chernobyl, receiving critical acclaim, numerous nominations, and winning several awards, it’s no surprise that fans wonder if there will be a Season 2.

However, since it’s a miniseries that tells a complete story, including scientist Valery Legasov’s suicide and the long-term impact of the disaster, the show’s creator, Craig Mazin, revealed there would be no follow-up season. In fact, he reiterated that it’s over for good.

  • “We will not be doing that,” he told Deadline. “We told a story of a place in time and we did it pretty darn well, and it’s time to start thinking about other places and other times… whatever we look at, whether it’s fiction or based on history, it’s relevant to who we are now and what we’re facing.”
