Akuma-Kun Uses the Power of Demons to Save the World
Shigeru Mizuki’s Akuma-Kun manga series centers around different protagonists holding the same nickname as Akuma-Kun. They come once every 10,000 years, and they are all considered child prodigies.
Akuma-kun’s main objective is to free the world from conflict, strife, and hunger by harnessing the powers and abilities of demons.
He believes that he can create a happy world by utilizing these black magic and demon powers.
With the help of Dr. Faust, Akuma-kun learned how to summon demons and bend them according to his will.
Thanks to a magic flute called Solomon, Akuma-kun learned how to summon disciples he called the 12 Apostles.
The newest Akuma-Kun ONA will be set 30 years in the same world as the 1989 TV anime adaptation.
The anime will revolve around the Millennium Research Institute headed by Ichiro Umoregi, a child prodigy who was raised by demons along with his half-human partner, Mephisto III, as they deal with mysterious incidents brought upon by devils.
Their first client is Hina Asanagi, a female college student whose five acquaintances died in peculiar situations on the same day and even at the same time!
It is said that the first generation Akuma-kun along with Mephisto II will also make an appearance in the Netflix ONA.
The supernatural, suspense, and horror anime will be episodic with Ichiro and Mephisto III tackling one mystery after the other.
Encourage Films is animating Akuma-Kun, and it will feature the voices of Toshio Furukawa (Hantengu in Demon Slayer) as Mephisto III and Yuuki Kaji (Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan) as Ichiro Umoregi, to name a few.
Where to Read the Akuma-Kun Manga
The Akuma-Kun manga is not available to read on any website or mobile app. The only way to read the manga is to buy it in paperback form from manga retailers like Amazon.
Shigeru Mizuki’s original rental manga series first ran in 1963–1964, published under Tokosha. They released three volumes, and the first Akuma-kun of the series was Ichiro Matsushita.
It was followed by the second manga series, which ran from 1966 to 1967 while the 1966 TV anime series was airing.
It was published in Monthly Shonen Magazine and Weekly Shonen Magazine. The lead Akuma-kun was Shingo Yamada.
The third manga series was titled Akuma-Kun Returns: Millennium Kingdom, which ran from 1970–1971, with Ichiro Matsushita as Akuma-kun.
The direct continuation of the manga series, Akuma-Kun: Final War, which ran from 1987–1988, was published in Comic BE!
Moreover, Saishinban Akuma-Kun, a modernized take on Akuma-Kun published in Comic Bom Bom, was released in 1988 and ended in 1990. It featured a new protagonist named Shingo Umoregi.
The last version, The Great Prophet Nostradamus, which ran from 1993 to 1994 and was published under Tatsumi Publishing, was released. It features Shingo Yamada as he deals with Nostradamus’ Armaggedon predictions.
