Fans of the isekai genre have a lot of different kinds of shows to choose from in the Summer 2021 lineup. While some tend to be more serious, of course, there are still ones that lean more towards the comedic side of things.
Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy or Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu is a light novel series by Kei Azumi and Mitsuaki Matsumoto that began serialization in 2012. It was originally published in ShĹŤsetsuka ni NarĹŤ until 2016 before moving to AlphaPolis. In 2015, a manga adaptation illustrated by Kotora Kino was released online.
The series follows the story of Makoto Misumi, a supposedly summoned hero to a magical world. Unfortunately, the goddess of that world took a disliking to him, calling him ugly and banishing him to the wastelands. Luckily, the god who transported him to this magical world granted him numerous abilities—making him an overpowered character despite the setbacks caused by the goddess.
The anime adaptation by C2C premiered last July 7, 2021. There are currently 3 episodes out, with the fourth episode to be released this week. The show is available to watch in Crunchyroll in Japanese with English subtitles. What about the people who aren't huge fans of subs?
For the ones who prefer watching in dub, you're going to have to wait quite a while. As of writing, there are no announcements yet from Crunchyroll regarding an English dub. Last July 13, 2021, they announced upcoming English and international dubs for shows that are part of the Summer 2021 lineup.
Unfortunately, Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy was not mentioned. For now, we can only hope that Crunchyroll's next dub announcement may include this comedy fantasy series.
Stay tuned for updates regarding further announcements!
