Based on the bestselling novel by Freida McFadden, The Housemaid opened in theaters on Friday. So, how soon can we count the months before it hits the streamer? Or better yet, which streamer will be lucky enough to have the crime thriller on their platform?

Theaters and Lionsgate have their own patterns, so here's how we can take a smart guess. According to Forbes, Lionsgate has typical release patterns.

For Premium Video on Demand (PVOD), The Housemaid's version is likely to hit digitally sometime between January 13 and January 20, 2026.

Once it's made available on PVOD, viewers will likely receive the option to rent or buy the movie on platforms like Apple TV, Fandango, Prime Video, and YouTube Movies & TV, with prices ranging from $19.99 to $29.99.

As for streaming deals, since Lionsgate has a Pay-1 window deal with STARZ, The Housemaid will potentially be on streaming video on demand first. New Lionsgate releases generally take three and a half weeks to four months from their theatrical premieres before they arrive on the mentioned streamer.

Should The Housemaid follow the same pattern as From the World of John Wick: Ballerina (which made its SVOD premiere on STARZ on September 26, roughly three and a half months after its June 6 debut), then The Housemaid can be expected to arrive between April 3 and 17, 2026.

The Housemaid is an original novel, divided into three parts, and considering the expansion of its world and the surprisingly high reviews the movie received, fans are hoping that a sequel could be in the works soon.

Well, as director Paul Feig confirmed in an interview with TODAY, Sydney Sweeney's story is not over just yet!

"Millie is not done," Feig told the outlet, all the while expressing interest in adapting the two remaining books of the series: The Housemaid's Secret, which finds Millie with a new family to work for, and the final book of the trilogy, The Housemaid is Watching, where Millie begins her new life as a social worker.

In the meantime, fans can watch Frieda McFadden's The Housemaid adaptation on the big screens.
