Macaulay Culkin made his movie comeback this year in a supporting voice role in the Disney animated sequel Zootopia 2. But which character did he play in the film?
The highly anticipated sequel to the beloved Disney animated hit has been a box office juggernaut in the last few days. The film brought back the main voice cast from the first installment to reprise their roles. Not only that, but they have also recruited several well-known actors and celebrities to voice the new characters in supporting or cameo roles, with one of them being the Home Alone star.
Which Character Did Macaulay Culkin Voice in Zootopia 2?
Culkin voiced the character of Cattrick Lynxley, one of the sons of crime family boss Milton Lynxley, in Zootopia 2.
While Cattrick was not a major character in the film, he has a connection to the main villain, given that his father serves as the antagonist and supports his criminal activities throughout the story.
Brenda Song, Culkin's real-life partner, was also part of the film's cast, voicing Kitty Lynxley, Cattrick's sister and Milton's only daughter in the family. The character was also actively supporting her father's criminal activities.
In an interview with CinemaBlend, producer Yvett Merino revealed that Culkin and Song recorded their lines together in the booth, which is rare in the animation process.
"They came in, and it's something we don't do a lot here in animation is bring people in together. We were able to bring them in and just to watch them kind of feed off of each other cause they are playing these siblings who are like most siblings," she said.
"I have a son and daughter, and they love each other, but they don't always get along, or they're always sniping at each other or picking at each other. And so to watch them kind of play off of each other in the booth was something pretty special. And, it was great, and I'm glad that we had the opportunity to see that and to bring them in at the same time."
Is There a Zootopia 3 In the Works?
So far, Disney has no official plans yet to do a third Zootopia movie anytime soon, but given the second movie's successful box office performance, it won't be surprising if discussions are already underway to expand the franchise.
In a recent interview with Polygon, co-director Byron Howard acknowledged that there are "endless" possibilities in expanding the franchise, including a potential third movie.
"It is endless, I think, because it is built around the fact that [just watching] the normal functioning of the world is entertainment itself," he said.
Co-director Jared Bush also added, "Honestly, I think our job is to have people walk out of a theater [and] go, like, ‘That was great! Man, I want more of that!’ I think that's the goal. And I think with this movie, we really tried hard to say, 'This is how you can expand [the Zootopia world]’ that allows people to say, 'And you could expand it even more!' I think that's the goal every single time we go into this world."
