Joaquin Phoenix is set to reprise his iconic role as Arthur Fleck in Joker 2: Folie À Deux alongside Lady Gaga who just confirmed her involvement in the upcoming musical movie on Warner Bros. However, questions circle around the meaning of the title and what it holds for the sequel.
What Does The Title Mean for Joker 2: Folie À Deux?
The upcoming sequel of Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur Fleck is a much-awaited movie and with Warner Bros. confirming its release in 2024, it finally gets a title fit for what the musical movie will have in store: Joker 2: Folie À Deux.
Joaquin Phoenix will be joined by the singer-actress Lady Gaga who is poised to play Harleen Quinzel, also known as Harley Quinn, and as reported by TheWrap, a lot of scenes of Joker 2: Folie À Deux would be happening in Arkham Asylum.
The title of the film, Joker 2: Folie À Deux, is a French term for "folly of two" or "madness of two." Folie À Deux is also called as a shared delusional disorder which is a rare psyhciatric syndrome.

Folie À Deux refers to a psychological condition where two people close to each other share the same delusion. The delusional belief is brought by the person who has more dominance between the two and such bleeds into the psyche of the other one.
From the comics, this exact thing happened between Harleen Quinzel and Joker, luring her to help him escape from the asylum and she puts herself into anything that Joker wants, thus, becoming Harley Quinn.
This could possibly be what Joker 2: Folie À Deux could have in store given the involvement of Harley Quinn in the movie and with a musical coming through, expect a waltz of a story from both Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga.
Joker 2: Folie À Deux is set to release on October 4, 2024.
