Quentin Tarantino made headlines when it was announced that he would develop a Star Trek movie along with J.J. Abrams, and a lot of speculation is going on whether he would be working on the established Kelvin timeline or working on a whole new crew totally. While everyone is speculating on what a Trek movie with Tarantino in the helm would look like, Nerdist has come up with this video that gives us an idea.
Check it out:
I love how the trailer captures Tarantino’s campy style with a bunch of old Trek clips. They even managed to find a POV “trunk shot”—a signature angle found in every Tarantino film.
With Tarantino having openly said that he would like to remake some old Trek episodes into full-length movies, everyone is guessing that he would like to redo The City on the Edge of Forever, where Dr. McCoy travels back in time and alters the timeline so that the Nazis win World War II. Of course, it’s just a guess, so we’ll just have to wait and see what Tarantino and Abrams have to say about it.
As a fan of Tarantino and Trek, I hope the movie finds a good way to integrate Tarantino’s style into the franchise. The way Tarantino makes his movies, I have a feeling there’s going to be some clashing between him and the studio on how the movie will be done. I’m just crossing my fingers, hoping for the best.
No release date has been announced for Tarantino’s Star Trek movie.
