The Captain Marvel trailer has officially arrived and everyone can't wait to see Carol Danvers grace the screens before heading off to fight Thanos in Avengers 4. As per usual, Youtube's Mr. Sunday Movies gives us an in-depth breakdown of the trailer and gives us some insight on what to expect based on clues and the comics.
Check it:
For one, I didn't know that the entire Starforce team of Carol Danvers was comprised of villains in the comic. We all know that Djimon Hounsou's Korath is a villain for Guardians of the Galaxy, but I thought he would be kind of a noble character when we meet him in Captain Marvel.
There's also speculation that Jude Law is playing Mar-Vell, but Mr. Sunday has presented the idea that he could actually be playing the villain Yon-Rogg, the nemesis of the original Captain Marvel. This could be backed up by his Starforce team completely compromised of comic villains, as well as Yon-Rogg's connection with Carol Danvers' origin in the comics.
Whatever it is, the identity of Jude Law's character might come as a spoiler as Marvel Studios has decided to hold back on revealing it.
Besides that, we get a look at young Phil Coulson, and Nick Fury possibly having lost his eye already. There's a part in the trailer where a dead skrull is on the table and we actually see Fury holding something up to his eye. Then again, this could just be a red herring as there's also a picture of Fury with bandages over his left eye which hasn't been blinded (yet).
Catch Captain Marvel in theaters March 8, 2019.
