What would you do when the aliens take over Earth? Would you comply with their new rules or fight for your freedom? The first trailer for the sci-fi thriller Captive State explores how humanity will deal with the invaders.
The trailer opens with a young man named Gabriel (Ashton Sanders) on the run. Unfortunately, he is eventually caught and brought to a mysterious man (John Goodman) who offers him a choice: "Work for me or wind up like your father."
Captive State takes place a decade after the "occupation" that tore humanity into two sides. Some humans chose to cooperate with the aliens while others decided to resist the invaders. Interestingly, it looks like Gabriel is the key to winning back our planet.
The synopsis for Captive State reads as follows:
"Set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extra-terrestrial force, Captive State explores the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents."
The new sci-fi flick is certainly charged with political turmoil and personal conflict. The trailer also introduces Vera Farmiga's character, who seems to be an important person who could potentially aid Gabriel. Needless to say, it's a timely movie that explores all the possibilities of a future with aliens.
The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and also stars Alan Ruck, Kevin Dunn, D.B. Sweeney, Madeline Brewer, and rapper Machine Gun Kelly.
Captive State crashes into theaters on March 29, 2019.
