It might sound a little bit odd, but word on the street has it that Warner Brothers might be thinking of casting Robert Downey Jr. as the DC Extended Universe's Hal Jordan after a decade of playing Iron Man for Marvel.
According to a report by We Got This Covered, sources from Warner Brothers have spread the word that the studio is thinking of tapping Downey Jr. for its upcoming Green Lantern movie. Apparently, the long time Marvel star has already had private talks with Warner Brothers about taking on a role in the DCEU, and it looks like that role may end up to be Hal Jordan.
This new report may come as a big surprise to fans. It's hard to imagine RDJ heading to the DCEU after a decade of sticking to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's definitely an odd choice for Warner Brothers. We find it very unlikely for the studio to choose Downey Jr. to star in the DC Extended Universe knowing how prominent the actor's been in the MCU. Warner Brothers would probably want a fresh face instead of RDJ who has become synonymous with Tony Stark thanks to his role as Marvel's Iron Man.
Of course, as with any rumor, we advise fans to take this report with a grain of salt. Really, what are the odds that WB would have Downey Jr. as Hal Jordan? It's more likely that the studio would go with a fresher actor instead of someone name-brand like RDJ.
WB's Green Lantern movie has yet to receive a release date but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
