Warner Bros. Working on a 'Plastic Man' Movie

With Aquaman already a success in the box office, WB is once again moving forward with their DCEU franchise. We already know that heroes like Shazam and the Birds of Prey are getting films, but they have another hero in the works that will focus on the lighter side of the genre.

According to DC Daily, WB is currently working on developing a Plastic Man movie and they've hired Amanda Idoko to write the script. What's more, stars Laura Dern and Allison Janney are set to appear in the film—it's just a question of finding the right actor to play Plastic Man.

There were actually plans to make a Plastic Man film way back in the 90s, but the movie kept falling into development hell. Actors like Jim Carrey, Bruce Campbell, and Keanu Reeves has been considered for the role, but now it looks like WB will be looking for someone younger to take over—perhaps David Tennant or Ben Schwartz?

With the DCEU starting off broody with Man of Steel, it looks like WB is wanting to put the focus on more lighthearted films like Birds of Prey or Shazam!. Though I have no qualms about that genre, I kind of wish they still gave us some of their more serious films. I actually liked Batman v Superman when it came out, and I'm still waiting on the Snyder Cut for Justice League. Not every superhero film has to be like Marvel, DC.

We don't have a set release date for Plastic Man yet, but you can catch DC's latest installment, Aquaman, in theaters Dec. 21.
