I think a lot of us tend to overlook the fact that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has featured several acclaimed and award-winning actors since its inception. However, despite the franchise's star-studded lineup and undeniable box office appeal, it still draws flak from the more "serious" film fanbase simply because of its genre. A recent exchange between Daredevil and Hawkeye star Vincent D'Onofrio and a random fan pretty much proves that MCU actors are still being ridiculed today for being involved in the billion-dollar franchise.

On Twitter, a fan named Kyle left a disparaging remark against Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch, suggesting that the British star is wasting his acting talent by "flailing his arms in front of a green screen".

The comment quickly caught the attention of D'Onofrio who came to his Marvel co-star's defense. In a lengthy but respectful response, the Kingpin actor said: "Kyle with all due respect, I know you mean well. There's other ways to look at things in life. You seem like an intelligent person so know this: We must understand an other person's experience in life before we can judge them. Keep an open mind my friend. My best to you always."

It's quite evident that some people still don't take superhero films seriously and it's a damn shame. This whole "genre discrimination" must end because Marvel has proven over the last couple of years that it's more than just a comic book franchise but obviously, you can't please everyone.

Meanwhile, Vincent D'Onofrio is rumored to appear in Marvel Studios' Echo series.
