BL fans are in for a treat in summer 2024, as the Twilight Out of Focus anime just confirmed its release date in a new trailer that shows off new footage and more characters. Plus, it previews the anime’s opening and ending themes.
The upcoming BL series was announced back in July 2023, and after much anticipation from genre fans, it’s finally coming out in July.
Twilight Out of Focus July Release Date Announced
While this isn’t the first trailer for the anime, this latest one gives fans their best look yet at the Twilight Out of Focus anime.
Not only does it show off new clips courtesy of Studio Deen (of Tadaima, Okaeri fame), but it also showcases more characters aside from the main duo, and it previews the theme songs.
The show’s opening theme is titled Crank Up and it’s performed by Ikusaburo Yamazaki, a Japanese actor who has played roles in anime such as Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire.
Meanwhile, the show’s ending theme is called UnchainxUnchain, and it’s by Amber, the duo behind Rent-A-Girlfriend season 3’s opening theme song.
Along with the theme previews, the trailer also confirmed that Twilight Out of Focus will be released on July 4, 2024.
There’s no word on how many episodes the anime will have, but it should be a safe bet that it will get at least one cour or 12 episodes.

Where to Watch the Twilight Out of Focus Anime
Twilight Out of Focus will be streamed in Japan on various networks, including Tokyo MX, BS Fuji, and AT-X. Currently, though, there’s no word yet on which platform it will be streamed on outside of Japan.
As with most seasonal anime, chances are that this show will be streamed in the US either on Crunchyroll or HIDIVE.
Because Studio Deen’s recent BL anime Tadaima, Okaeri was streamed on Crunchyroll, Twilight will likely also be streamed there.
Of course, we’ll have to wait and see if Crunchyroll announces streaming plans for it in the coming weeks.

Twilight Out of Focus’ Story Makes it a Must-Watch for BL Fans
This upcoming BL anime is set in a school and follows roommates Mao Tsuchiya and Hisashi Otomo.
The two made promises to each other such as Mao keeping Hisashi’s sexuality a secret. Hisashi also must not make any advances towards Mao.
The boundaries they set with each other soon begin to fade as Hisashi is cast in an upcoming movie by their school’s film club, of which Mao is a member.
Even though Mao didn’t want Hisashi to join at first, Hisashi was persuaded by the film’s director. As work on the film commences, Mao finds himself falling for Hisashi.
For BL fans who are interested and can’t wait for the anime, the original manga is published in English by Kodansha USA.
