Joe Biden was diagnosed with prostate cancer that has already spread to his bones, according to an announcement made on Friday. According to his spokesperson, the diagnosis followed the discovery of a "small nodule" during a "routine physical exam."

Several political figures have responded to the news and expressed their support for Biden, 82. Among them is current U.S. President Donald Trump.

"Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery," Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday evening.

Biden’s office revealed on Sunday that his cancer is "characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade 5) with metastasis to the bone."

"President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms," the statement continued, adding that his disease appears to be hormone-dependent. As a result, hormone therapy may be recommended by his physicians.

Biden’s Aides on His Deteriorating Health

The 46th President of the United States withdrew his candidacy on July 21, 2024, despite previously insisting that he would run for a second term. In February, his physician stated that he was still fit to serve another four years in office, health-wise.

However, reports about his declining physical and mental condition surfaced even before his cancer diagnosis. Many of Biden’s aides expressed concern about his “halting walk” and discussed whether he might need a wheelchair if he had been re-elected in 2024.

After a political career spanning more than 50 years, he said goodbye to the Oval Office, but promised he’s “not leaving the fight,” even after his endorsed candidate, Kamala Harris, lost the election to Trump.
