This year has been great for anime fans, especially those who enjoy the romance genre, with a surge of exciting new titles. Among them is the highly anticipated return of True Beauty, inspired by the popular webtoon.

When is True Beauty Season 2 Coming Out?
Starting as a webtoon in 2018 and later adapted into a K-drama in 2020, True Beauty built a solid fanbase long before its anime debut.
While the anime may not have been as widely acclaimed as its original webtoon or live-action adaptation, it still delighted many viewers who enjoyed seeing their favorite characters, Jugyeong, Seojun, and Suho, fully animated as they navigated school life with beauty as a central theme.
For the second season, Studio N and Cocktail Media confirmed on January 4, 2024, that True Beauty is already in production.
The announcement was shared on the show’s official X account, featuring a New Year promo image of the three leads dressed in traditional Korean hanbok.
Although an official release date for True Beauty Season 2 has yet to be revealed — understandably since production is likely still in its early stages — fans can rest assured that Crunchyroll will once again stream the new season. It will be available in the USA, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, India, and the CIS.
What to Expect in True Beauty Season 2
True Beauty’s take on high school romance and teenage drama isn’t just what makes the series appealing, it’s also the show’s exploration of Korea’s beauty standards and the pressures of fitting into them.
The main lead, Jugyeong, has grown accustomed to people treating her kindly because of her looks and popularity, but that wasn’t always the case.
Jugyeong was bullied growing up for her appearance, which didn’t match societal beauty standards. However, she found a way to overcome this by mastering makeup and styling herself in trendy outfits.
But beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder. Things take a turn when Jugyeong meets the handsome Lee Su-ho and bravely shows him her bare face. Despite that, he becomes interested in her for who she is.
Then there’s the rebellious Han Seo-jun, Su-ho’s estranged friend, who also starts to develop feelings for Jugyeong.
Season 1 explored the trio’s budding relationships and left viewers hanging when a tipsy Jugyeong kissed Seo-jun in the final episode.
In Season 2, fans can expect more of this love triangle as Jugyeong slowly learns to embrace her authentic self. Along the way, she’ll face heartbreaks and betrayals from people she trusts.
With the first season only adapting the story up to Chapter 60 of the manhwa, there’s plenty more drama to come as the full series spans over 200 chapters!
