South Korean trot singer Hyun Mee died at the age of 85, police confirmed.
Local news outlets confirmed the death of popular singer Hyun Mee, who rose to fame during the 1960s. After having a decades-old career, she still pledged she would continue singing until she could not do so anymore.
However, she left the music industry heartbroken following her recent passing.

Hyun Mee Dead at 85
Yonhap News Agency confirmed Tuesday that Hyun Mee, one of the most popular Korean pop and trot singers, has passed. She was 85.
Police said that the singer, whose real name was Kim Myeong Seon, was found dead by the head of her fan club around 9:35 a.m Tuesday. She was moved from her Ichon-dong home to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

As of press time, Hyun Mee's cause of death is yet to be determined. The authorities have since declared that they are trying to identify what led to her passing by looking through her medical history and gaining information from the fan club president and the singer's bereaved family.
Her family is yet to release an official statement. Details about her funeral have not been revealed.
Meanwhile, Hanryu Times conducted an interview with Hyun Mee's nephew Han Sang Jin, saying that he would return home from an overseas schedule after the passing of his aunt. He expressed his shock as he heard she was still able to attend a concert a day before her death.
Hyun Mee's Legacy, Career
Hyun Mee started her career in 1957 when she was 20. She notably performed for the 8th US Army and worked as a sword dancer before scoring a chance to show off her singing skills when a female singer canceled her performance.
She became more famous when she dropped her hit song, Night Fog, in 1962. From there, the trot singer released more songs, including The Face I Want to See, Just Good, All My Love, and Leave Without Saying Goodbye. She created the hit tracks with the help of her husband, composer Lee Bong Jo, whom she married after three years of dating.
Over a decade before her death, she held a press conference to celebrate the 50th anniversary of her debut. Hyun Mee told her fans she would continue her musical career until she lost her voice.
