In an interview with Collider, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura addressed the ending of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts where he confirmed that it was indeed teasing a crossover with the G.I. Joe property in the future installments.

"So the idea of a crossover, I'm not sure I understand even the terminology in the sense that, it doesn't suddenly become the two worlds together. You're gonna make a decision about what the story is," he said.

"What we will have is a character, or three, or whatever. So there will be Joe characters, but it is fusing into the Transformers world for this next movie."

The producer added, "Imagine – this is not accurate, but imagine you were doing a dirty dozen, suddenly three of them would be Joe. So, we're introducing Joe elements into this, and eventually, that can grow into a lot of different directions, right?"

There you go, we have the confirmation that the two Hasbro properties are indeed going to crossover in the future installments and it is interesting to see how they'll merge together in an already crowded universe that has robots in disguise.

While the ending did set up a crossover between the two Hasbro properties, di Bonaventura clarified that nothing official is set in stone yet although the potential next film will have both the Maximals and some of the G.I. Joe characters alongside the usual Autobots.

"Well, as I've told you before, we don't really plan completely. So we have instincts about where it's gonna happen, but the new news in this movie is the Maximals, right? And that's something that we're not finished exploring," he explained.

"Because we don't want the signal of the Joe's coming in, and suddenly it’s like, ‘Yeah, we did the Maximals, that's done.’ Maximals absolutely will be in the next movie."

Di Bonaventura went on to explain how they are going to juggle the various kinds of characters that they have to explore during the next installment.

He added, "So the question is gonna be for us, as we begin to do this is, there will be Joe characters, there will be Maximal characters, there will be Autobot characters, and so how do we come up with a story that can bring all those elements together?"

"Eventually, the Joe characters can lead into a whole other aspect. But for the next movie, what, so far, we've thought of is essentially a team of those three groups coming together to fight the next villain."

This is definitely an ambitious idea that they are going to try to pull off which could be a massive event for fans of both properties. However, before it happens, Rise of the Beasts needs to become a huge box office hit first.

We should be able to find out soon whether this crossover will officially happen and fans are finally going to see the two properties come together on the big screen.
