- Quick Answer: Tom Holland named Adolescence star Owen Cooper as his ideal Spider-Man successor, expressing a desire to mentor the next actor to inherit the web-shooters.
Tom Holland recently named his potential successor for Spider-Man in the future, once he is ready to let go of the web-slinger's suit.
The actor is making his long-awaited return to the MCU in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, marking five years since he last played the role in No Way Home. Fans are excited to see what the film has in store for the hero's next solo adventure and whether it will set up future movies.
However, while we're waiting to see more of Holland's Spider-Man in the MCU, the actor is already thinking about the future of the character.
Which Actor Does Tom Holland Want to See Play Spider-Man Next?

In an interview with Esquire, Holland opened up about his future as Spider-Man in the MCU now that he has been playing the beloved superhero for 10 years.
While he is not yet ready to let go of the role, he is already thinking about the future of the character and which actor could take over once he retires from playing the web-slinger.
"In the way that Robert Downey was such a mentor for me in my first three movies, I would love to be that person for whoever is next," the actor said.
"Owen Cooper would be awesome. Obviously, he’s super-talented and the talk of the town right now. [He could be a] great springboard [for a fresh face]."
Fortunately for Holland, the Adolescence star has previously expressed interest in playing Spider-Man in the future in an interview last year.
"I want to play Spider-Man," Cooper told i-D magazine in a March 2025 interview.
For now, fans can look forward to seeing more of Holland as the web-slinger in Spider-Man: Brand New Day next month and potentially more MCU movies in the future.
What to Expect in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will mark an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves.
Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he's devoted himself entirely to protecting his city, a full-time Spider-Man, but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, Mark Ruffalo, and Liza Colon-Zayas.
The film is set to release in theaters on July 31. It will also be available on IMAX in select international markets.
