Tom Hanks’ Son Was Originally Supposed To Play Star Wars’ Anakin Skywalker

Hayden Christensen might be most known for his role as Star Wars' Anakin Skywalker, but if things had gone differently, we would have seen Tom Hanks' son ranting about sand and power from the Dark Side.

While it's been years since the release of Star Wars: Episode IX – Revenge of the Sith, fans continue to discuss the prequels, and in the Star Wars subreddit, Anakin Skywalker has been one of the most recent subjects of discussion. According to the post, Tom Hanks' and Samantha Lewes' son, Colin Hanks, was originally considered for the role of young Darth Vader. The actor was one of the earliest names to be linked to the role. Unfortunately, Colin was defeated because Christensen had much better on-screen chemistry with the Queen of Naboo, Natalie Portman.

While some fans think that Colin Hanks would have been an interesting pick that would have matched Sebastian Shaw (the actor who played old Force Ghost Anakin in Return of the Jedi), many others have come to defend Christensen. Not only do Star Wars fans on Reddit say that the actor was perfectly cast for the role, but they also praise Christensen's acting, saying that no one else would be able to say Anakin's lines better.

Sure, Anakin has been one of the most criticized characters in the Star Wars franchise, but over the years fans have come to enjoy the prequels, admitting that it wasn't Christensen's fault that the character was given the roughest lines to work with.

Who would have you preferred as Ani? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
