Jeremy Renner shared his one tiny regret about his near-death snowplow accident a few years ago.
In January 2023, the MCU star made headlines after his snowplow ran him over after he had saved his nephew. It resulted in him suffering from blunt chest trauma and 38 broken bones. He eventually recovered and resumed working again.
Jeremy Renner Reflects on His 2023 Snowplow Accident
In an excerpt from his new memoir titled My Next Breath (via The Times of London), Renner opened up about the events that led to his snowplow accident and the one tiny detail that he regretted ignoring, as it resulted in him being run over.
"'Before exiting the driver’s cab! — Apply parking brake,' the manual says. But I didn’t engage the parking brake, or disengage the steel tracks. In that moment — an innocent, critical, life-changing moment — that tiny but monumental slip of the mind would change the course of my life for ever," he wrote.
"My feet lost their grip on the moving tracks, and I never made it to the cab. I lurched violently forward, out of control. In that split second I was catapulted off the spinning metal tracks, arms flailing. I arced over the front of the tracks, propelled forward, down on to the hard-packed ice, where my head hit the ground hard and instantly gashed open."
Renner continued, "There came terrible crunching sounds as 14,000lb of galvanised steel machinery slowly, inexorably, monotonously, ground over my body. It was a horrifying soundtrack."
The actor also shared the details on the extent of his injuries and the life-saving care that he received from the paramedics.
Jeremy Renner's Upcoming Projects
Renner eventually recovered from the injuries, and he was able to resume his acting career.
His first work after the injuries was filming the third season of his hit Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown. Last year, he was cast in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
However, his future in the MCU remains unknown as he was notably missing from the list of cast members that were announced to star in Avengers: Doomsday.
Fans are still expecting Renner to reprise the role of Clint Barton in the upcoming Avengers movie, as the actor has expressed interest in continuing to play the hero.
