Koch Media has acquired the IP and rights to the Timesplitters series and fellow Free Radical sci-fi game called Second Sight.
"We are hugely excited to have acquired Timesplitters" Koch CEO Klemens Kundratitz said in a statement. "The original games gave fans a massive content offer and provided a pure and genuinely fun arcade shooter experience.
"We have many fans of the Timesplitters series among our own staff who are passionate about creating a product that will thrill today's gaming audience."
It sounds like they're planning to develop a new Timesplitters game, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they'll expand the franchise. Maybe they have plans to remaster Timesplitters, Timesplitters 2, and Timesplitters: Future Perfect but I'd rather see a new game. I actually enjoyed the old Timesplitters games. Sure, they're not as sophisticated as Destiny or Halo but they featured some exciting gameplay modes and mechanics you'll never find in other first-person shooter games. I actually spent hours with Timesplitters: Future Perfect's map editor. Hopefully, they'll have that feature in the future Timesplitters games.
