Though Captain America and Iron Man may have completed their stories for the MCU, Thor still has some more adventures on his own, and Chris Hemsworth is still onboard for it all. While the MCU may have suffered a major delay thanks to COVID-19, it looks like things will start rolling for Thor: Love and Thunder early 2021.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Hemsworth is set to start work on the next Thor film this coming January 2021. What's odd though, is that Deadline is reporting that shooting for the film starts in March 2021.
Until someone makes an official announcement, I guess it's just safe to say that Love and Thunder is expecting to shoot early 2021. We don't know when exactly cameras will start rolling, but they better do it soon, seeing that the film is slated for a release on February of 2022. Then again, like Black Widow, it's possible that it could be pushed back even further.
While Thor: Ragnarok is a fine film, I kind of hope that director Taika Waititi will take the franchise a bit more seriously with Love and Thunder. While the first two films weren't perfect, they had some real emotional weight to them that I didn't think Ragnarok had. I mean, Odin dies in Ragnarok, but the movie is mostly a comedy. Since Waititi is best known for his more heartfelt material, I just wish we see some of it in Love and Thunder this time around.
For now, Thor: Love and Thunder is slated for a release on Feb. 18, 2022.
