In Norse mythology, Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder are the goats who pull Thor's chariot, and first appeared in Marvel Comics canon in Thor #339 and have been featured periodically. They both can be reborn if eaten unless one of their bones are broken, and are superhumanly strong. The goats are also capable of traveling between the Ten Realms and both run and fly at fly at high speed.

Director Taika Waititi previously revealed that Jason Aaron's Thor run inspired the story for Love and Thunder, with Gorr the God Butcher set to become the main villain, and Jane Foster set to become Thor.
