The Umbrella Academy Returns on Netflix Soon
While the third season of the series ended on July 2, 2022, the fourth season renewal was not greenlit until the next month, August 2022. The Umbrella Academy season 4 started filming for its finale in February 2023, before it reportedly wrapped up in May.
As the official page announced, the Hargreeves family will be back on its home streamer, Netflix, on August 8, 2024!
The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Took Two Years To Get Here
Waiting two whole years before we get the chance to see the Hargreeves family back to grace our screens again was thanks to the filming postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite ending their production in May 2023, which avoided the delays caused by the 2023 WGA and the SAG-AFTRA strikes, post-production potentially encountered difficulties in perfecting the Hargreeves' last chance at saying goodbye to their longtime fans.
Thankfully, though, we have a solid date on when to welcome them back on their home streamer and eventually bid our farewell to the show.
One of the notable things that changed about The Umbrella Academy season 4 is the episode count. Seasons 1-3 consisted of ten episodes, but the final season will only get six. Why is that?
While the showrunners have yet to explain the shorter episodes, executive producer Steve Blackman says that fans will love the finale even with the shorter episodes:

What Can We Expect From The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Story?
Remember that the Netflix series is based on Gerard Way's comic series of the same name, in which a group of seven estranged siblings with superpowers reunite after the death of their father.
As far as The Umbrella Academy progressed throughout seasons 1-3, a new timeline is looming for the Hargreeves children where "stakes are higher than ever before."
The first episode will be titled The Unbearable Tragedy of Getting What You Want, which was included in the teaser script page for season 4, contrasting with the sixth episode's title, End of the Beginning.
Considering we're still waiting for the teaser trailers for season 4, we can only speculate that the finale will answer the most crucial questions circling in fans' minds over the years:
How did Ben originally die? How come the Commission exists? Will the Hargreeves siblings get their powers back? Will they be able to save the world from utter chaos?
The Hargreeves children, Viktor (Elliot Page), Luther (Tom Hopper), Diego (David Castañeda), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Number Five (Aidan Gallagher), and Ben (Justin H. Min), will return to The Umbrella Academy season 4 with one last resolve before the show ends on the streamer.
Alongside their father figure, Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore), Lila Pitts (Ritu Arya), Dr. Gene Thibedeau (Nick Offerman), Dr. Jean Thibedeau (Megan Mullally), and Sy Grossman (David Cross) will also be joining the Hargreeves household in the final season.
