Daisy Ridley’s husband, Tom Bateman, has been cast to play the male lead in the highly anticipated movie adaptation of the best-selling novel The Love Hypothesis.
Amazon MGM Studios has been working on the project, with Lili Reinhart attached to star and executive produce. The novel famously originated from a popular fan fiction featuring Rey and Kylo Ren from Star Wars (also known as Reylo), and the cover illustration is even based on the likenesses of their respective actors.

It was announced that Bateman is set to play the male lead in the movie adaptation of The Love Hypothesis. He is taking on the role of Dr. Adam Carlsen.
What made Bateman’s casting more interesting for fans is that he is married to Daisy Ridley, who famously plays Rey in the Star Wars franchise and is the inspiration for the character of Olive Smith in the novel.
In case you’re not familiar with the novel, The Love Hypothesis follows biology PhD candidate, Olive Smith, and hotshot professor, Dr. Adam Carlsen, as they enter a fake relationship and see each of their carefully calculated theories on love get thrown into chaos.
Set It Up director Claire Scanlon is directing the film. Reinhart and the novel’s author, Ali Hazelwood, are involved as executive producers.
Ridley has acknowledged her husband’s casting in the project, sharing, as they were shocked and amused that the producers managed to cast Ridley's husband to play the love interest of a character with a screenshot of the news on her Instagram story.

While most would have loved to see Ridley and Adam Driver play the main characters, having Bateman play the male lead is the second-best choice, and they successfully signed him to the project.
