Everyone is busy coming up with their lists on why they hate Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and probably the latest revelation is the discovery that the final shot of Rey on Tatooine could be stock footage of Rey in Pasaana that was mirrored.
Check this out:
While some may see this as a new source of outrage, I think it's pretty normal for the film to make alter footage in order to serve the story they're trying to tell. Heck, the entire appearance of Leia in the movie is from repurposed footage, and people barely have anything bad to say about that.
If anything, the reuse of the shot is kind of proof that a return to Tatooine wasn't the original plan for the movie, and was added while they were shooting. If anything, some people are even saying that Rey was possibly burying the Skywalker lightsabers somewhere else, seeing that the texture of the sand in the closeup isn't the same as the one on Tatooine.
For now, I think everyone is slowly settling for The Rise of Skywalker as the end of the entire Skywalker Saga. As someone who lovedThe Last Jedi, I personally thought this film was too focused on doing fanservice than tell a satisfying story, but as long as kids love it, I'm sure the movie would have done its job.
