Ironheart doesn’t just introduce viewers to brilliant young inventor Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), who’s following in the footsteps of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It also features a new character who instantly captures fans’ hearts: Landon (Harper Anthony).

A local boy who helps Riri transport parts of her damaged suit using his wagon, Landon is an original character created for the series and does not appear in the comics.

So, who is Landon, and what made series creator Chinaka Hodge add this lad to the Disney+ series? Find out below.

Landon first appeared as a local youth in Chicago, Illinois, where Riri lives. He first helps the bad girl genius by lugging the pieces of her broken suit in his wagon as she makes her way home after being expelled from MIT in exchange of an Andrew Jackson.

Landon later appears in the latter episodes, becoming a part of the team of friends and family that help Riri rebuilt her suit over and over again to face Parker Robbins, aka The Hood (Anthony Ramos).

However, though he’s not in the comic series, Hodge revealed Landon “is the one character that came from my mind.”

“I love Landon the character and Harper the actor infinitely,” she told TVLine.

When writing Ironheart during the COVID/shelter era, Hodge remembered the kid who lived on their block also named Landon.

“He would come over and poke his nose in — ‘What are you doing, Miss ‘Naka, what are you writing? What’s this show, what’s this show? Can you put me in this show? Put me in this show!'” she said.

Making the young boy’s wish come true, Landon is now part of the MCU, helping the newest addition to the much-loved superhero team.

“So I’m very glad that Landon lives,” Hodge continued. “And Harper makes him sing.”

Warning: Major spoilers ahead.

The explosive Ironheart Season 1 finale didn’t just feature Riri and The Hood’s battle—it also marked the highly anticipated arrival of Marvel villain Mephisto (Sacha Baron Cohen), who turned out to be the mysterious figure who gave Parker his hood, a magical cloak powered by Dormammu, first seen in Doctor Strange.

Desperate to bring back her AI best friend, Riri made a deal with Mephisto to resurrect N.A.T.A.L.I.E. But as the villain brings the real Natalie back to life, dark scars begin to form on Riri’s arm when she hugs her—the same scars Parker had after wearing Mephisto’s cloak.

With this major cliffhanger, along with Parker’s appearance in the candy/magic shop Stanton’s, Hodge remains optimistic that there will be an Ironheart Season 2. In fact, she even assures that the show will continue for multiple seasons.

“Yes, a second season, a third season, a fourth season. Yes!” she told IGN.

However, Disney+ has yet to officially renew the series. But with several loose ends that need to be tied up, a second-season renewal doesn’t seem far off.
