Paul Bettany recently admitted that he has not seen A Knight's Tale again in more than 20 years since its release due to one specific heartbreaking reason.
The beloved actor made his mainstream breakthrough in the 2001 medieval comedy that gained a cult following in the years after it was released. While he is now known for playing Vision in the MCU, some fans still cited A Knight's Tale as one of Bettany's most iconic performances to date and the reason why they became an admirer of his work.
Why Paul Bettany Has Never Watched A Knight's Tale Since Its Release in Theaters

During his recent appearance at L.A. Comic Con (via EW), Bettany was asked by a fan about his thoughts on A Knight's Tale today and his experience making the film more than 20 years ago.
He admitted that he has never seen the film again since its release due to the death of Heath Ledger, with whom he bonded while filming.
"I saw [the film] when it first came out. I’ve never seen it again since. There are lots of reasons for that, and just one of them is that I miss Heath too much," the actor said to the crowd.
"It was a really long time ago. It was like another lifetime ago. And people do come up sometimes, people come up to me on the street and quote things at me, and I literally can’t remember. I can’t remember any of it."
For the past few years, there have been attempts to do a sequel to A Knight's Tale, including director Brian Helgeland's idea that he pitched on Netflix. However, none of them has come to fruition.
What's Next for Paul Bettany?
Bettany will next be seen in the upcoming MCU series Vision Quest, where he will reprise the fan-favorite role of Vision. It also serves as a quasi-continuation from the events of WandaVision.
He teased what fans should expect in the series during the L.A. Comic Con panel, including the themes that it will explore.
"I can't say too much about it, and we've already shot it, so I've already explored it, but I saw a lot of it just yesterday, and it's fantastic. I'm really excited for you all to see it," the actor said.
"It is about lots of things, and it's super exciting, but in the same way that WandaVision was about grief, it's sort of about intergenerational trauma. It's about fathers and sons and denial of pain and denial of your own truth and coming to terms with who and what you are and what you could be."
