The month of December will see the premiere of highly anticipated TV shows and new seasons of beloved returning shows that fans have been waiting for. They vary across different streamers and networks, and various genres, ranging from an adaptation of a popular video game to a spy thriller series.
Here is our list of the most anticipated new TV shows and new seasons of returning shows to help guide your next binge-watch plans in December 2025.
The Abandons (Netflix) - December 4
The new Western drama The Abandons follows the matriarchs of two very different families, one of wealth and privilege bound by blood, the other a found family of orphans and outcasts bound by love and necessity, who find their fates linked by two crimes, an awful secret, a star-crossed love, and a piece of land with silver underneath.
Created by Sons of Anarchy showrunner Kurt Sutter, the ensemble is led by Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey. It promises an epic story that will explore the conflicts of the Old West and the American struggles in this period of history.
Spartacus: House of Ashur (Starz) - December 5
Spartacus: House of Ashur follows Ashur as he claws his way to power, owning the same ludus that once owned him. Allying with a fierce gladiatrix, Ashur ignites a new kind of spectacle that offends the elite.
This serves as a new installment in the Spartacus franchise, after more than 10 years of not releasing another new series in the saga. Steven S. DeKnight returns as the showrunner, while Nick E. Tarabay reprises his role.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 (Disney+) - December 10
In the second season of the hit Disney+ series, after Camp Half-Blood’s protective border is breached, Percy Jackson embarks on an epic odyssey into the Sea of Monsters in search of his best friend, Grover, and the one thing that may save the camp, the legendary Golden Fleece.
The main cast from the first season returns to reprise their respective roles. Courtney B. Vance took over the role of Zeus from Lance Reddick, who passed away before the first season aired. Just like the first season, this will consist of eight episodes.
Fallout Season 2 (Prime Video) - December 17
Fallout season 2 will pick up in the aftermath of the first season’s epic finale and take audiences along for a journey through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas.
Macaulay Culkin and Justin Theroux join the cast to play eccentric characters that Lucy and The Ghoul will face. Unlike the first season, the episodes will be released in a weekly format until early February.
Emily in Paris Season 5 (Netflix) - December 18
In the fifth season of the hit Netflix series, now the head of Agence Grateau Rome, Emily faces professional and romantic challenges as she adapts to life in a new city. But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks.
The series continues to be one of the biggest hit shows on Netflix. However, with Emily moving to Rome, fans are wondering how the series will be able to keep its promise in the title of the character being in Paris.
The Copenhagen Test (Peacock) - December 27
The Copenhagen Test follows a first-generation analyst who realizes his brain's been hacked, allowing access to his senses. Stuck between the agency and hackers, he tries to act normally to reveal the culprits.
Executive produced by James Wan, the cast is led by Simu Liu and Melissa Barrera. If you're in the mood to watch an action-packed series during the holiday season, this might be the right one for you.
