Marc Maron ended his long-running podcast WTF by bringing back former president Barack Obama, who offered him advice on how to navigate the next chapter of his life.
Last summer, the famed comedian announced that he had decided to end the beloved podcast after 16 years, and since then, fans have been looking forward to seeing how he will conclude his run and who he will invite to be his guest in the final episode. As it turns out, he recruited one of his popular guests from the past to say goodbye to the podcast.

In the final episode of WTF (via Variety), Maron flew to Washington, D.C., to interview former President Obama in his office.
As long-time fans of the podcast know, Obama was a previous guest back in 2015 while he was still in office. His appearance was considered to be a milestone in the podcast space since he legitimized the format as one of the platforms for political interviews.
Throughout their hour-long interview, Maron and Obama discussed the current state of the political world and how the former president remains optimistic despite the chaos.
When Maron brought up that he is figuring out what he'll do next after ending the podcast, Obama gave him heartfelt advice to the host.
"You’ve still got a couple of chapters left. Don’t rush into what the next thing is. Take a beat. Take some satisfaction looking backwards. Just be a little brain-dead for a while," he said.
At the end of the interview, Obama praised Maron and the long-lasting impact of his podcast after 16 years of a successful run.
"Part of the reason you had such a big fan base during this 16-year run is there is a core decency to you and the conversations you had that I think speaks to who we are," the former president said.
"We can’t take this stuff for granted, but my experience is: Most people are really decent. And I think that’s why, when they hear somebody else who is, it gives them courage. It gives them hope. And you should be proud of having done that."

While the Obama interview was the last episode of the WTF podcast, Maron gave his final word to his listeners during the penultimate episode, where he did not interview any guests.
He thanked his fans for their non-stop support throughout the podcast's 16-year run, especially as they also witnessed the different milestones and obstacles that happened in his life.
"I’m grateful to have been part of your lives. We’ve been through a lot of stuff together. A lot of breakups. Death. Cats. The world," he said.
Maron concluded the episode by naming the cats that he lost over the years while holding back his tears.
