It's been four years since Brie Larson took her first flight as Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I think most of us can agree that her stint as one of the franchise's most powerful cosmic heroes has been quite polarizing. Now, nearly a month removed after Marvel Studios announced that The Marvels is getting pushed back four months from its supposed playdate, the Oscar-winning star is once again finding herself in the midst of controversy.
A hot new rumor suggests that Brie played a major factor in the Captain Marvel sequel's delay. According to insider Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic podcast, The Marvels' production has been quite chaotic with Larson, one of the film's lead stars said to be difficult to work with.
Sneider's sources claim the actress wasn't all that thrilled with the film being retitled from its original Captain Marvel 2 title, let alone sharing the spotlight with other heroes like Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Photon (Teyonah Parris). Additionally, the tipster was reportedly told that The Marvels is quite "chaotic" and "just a shitshow" overall.
It is believed that the behind-the-scenes drama led to the sequel's shocking delay. Marvel never addressed why The Marvels had to be pushed back but many assumed it had to do with the studio's effort to reduce its 2023 slate.

There's no denying that Larson has garnered herself a reputation for being standoffish and arrogant. Still, it's hard to imagine her causing behind-the-scenes trouble on her own film, and judging by the stuff we've seen so far, the stars of The Marvels seem to be getting along quite well. Hopefully, there's no truth to the latest reports because let's be honest, Brie hasn't won everyone in the fandom over.
The Marvels is now scheduled for theatrical release on November 10, 2023.
