Ahmed Best's appearance during the latest episode of The Mandalorian continues to generate buzz across the galaxy. To many, it felt rewarding to finally see the actor get the recognition he so rightfully deserves by playing Kelleran Beq, the mysterious Jedi who was responsible for Grogu's Order 66 salvation.
Despite Ahmed's new and dare we say upgraded Star Wars role, his past as Jar Jar will forever be etched in the books no matter how polarizing his existence was. This is why it's not at all surprising how the episode's director and Greef Karga actor Carl Weathers was able to sneak in a clever nod to the divisive character in Chapter 20.
We barely got a glimpse of it during the episode because most of us were focused on their attempt to escape, but it turns out that the ship Kelleran and Grogu used to flee Coruscant during the Jedi purge (via Forbes) was actually owned by Jar Jar himself. The said ship actually made its first live-action appearance as it was featured in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Now, say what you will about him, but it turns out that the franchise's most despised character was instrumental in saving Grogu. How's that for a double redemption arc for Ahmed Best?

Of course, the idea doesn't sound farfetched at all as Jar Jar has always had close ties to the Jedi so there's a good chance he and Kelleran also had run-ins in the past. The real question is, where was he during the whole Sith invasion and how exactly did his ship end up with Kelleran Beq and Grogu? We're not sure if that will ever get answered but hey, at least Jar Jar somewhat redeemed himself or at least we hope so.
