The Mandalorian star Simon Kassianides recently teased his potential return as Axe Woves in the upcoming movie The Mandalorian and Grogu.
Earlier this year, Lucasfilm officially announced that Din Djarin and Grogu are jumping to the big screen for their next adventure with a 2026 theatrical release date set and production slated to begin this summer.
So far, Lucasfilm remains mum on the casting of the project, and fans have been wondering whether the majority of the cast members from the Disney+ series will return in the theatrical movie.
The Mandalorian Star Hints Axe Woves Return in Upcoming Movie
In his recent post on Instagram, Kassianides opened up about his fitness journey in celebration of Father's Day and teased that he is currently undergoing intense workout sessions in preparation for a role.
"To all the fathers out there trying to keep fit - you guys inspire me. I’m getting fit for a role and have had some great guidance thanks to the following pages - informative, good people who know their stuff and inspire," he wrote in his caption.
Fans have speculated that Kassianides might be hinting in his caption that he is reprising the role of Axe Woves in The Mandalorian and Grogu.
Interestingly, he liked a comment from a fan who was asking whether he was preparing for the Star Wars project.
If Axe Woves does end up appearing in The Mandalorian and Grogu, it suggests that the Mandalore will have a significant part in the film and we could also expect characters such as Bo-Katan and other Mandalorians to potentially show up.
We might be hearing an official confirmation regarding the casting very soon as production will reportedly begin this month, but we are seeing signs that some of the familiar faces from the series will be returning in the big-screen adventure.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is slated for release in theaters on May 22, 2026.
