The Little Mermaid swims through theaters with the live-action adaptation of one of the Disney princesses, Ariel, and her journey through being human.

Known for its movie tunes, the composer of The Little Mermaid, Alan Menken, hypes up the new songs that the live-action remake would have.

These songs are created by Alan Menken who previously wrote the songs for the 1989 animated classic and this time, he's got help from Lin-Manuel Miranda who is best known for his musical Hamilton.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Alan Menken reveals that there would be new songs for The Little Mermaid, "We all got together and there was originally a treatment that David Magee had worked on with Rob and John."

Menken explains the process of deciding the new song, "When I was finally brought in to see all that, we had meetings and Lin came in and we looked at where the existing songs were going to be, and then simply plotted out the other songs."

Menken teases that Prince Eric would have his own song, too, "One was for Prince Eric, and this is one where he's longing to find this girl who saved his life. But also he had this longing for the sea, a passion for the sea, and this 'uncharted waters' where he's going with his life."

Menken says that there is a theme from the musical score of The Little Mermaid, "If you look here at the score, it's all through the score that thematic material from that song."

With the arrival of the modern times, these new songs are not the only changes happening to The Little Mermaid.

It has been confirmed that some of the songs from the 1989 animated classic did not make it to the cut of the live-action The Little Mermaid.

Other than the songs, the narrative of The Little Mermaid also takes a different take on Ariel wanting to be human because that is not confined to Prince Eric anymore.

While Prince Eric is a factor, the live-action The Little Mermaid will be modernizing Ariel who wants to experience the human world.

The Little Mermaid stars Halle Bailey as Ariel with Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, and Javier Bardem as King Triton.
